 INTRODUCTION

Definition of Unemployment – Unemployment means a lack of jobs for those who are seeking jobs but are not able to find them. Nowadays India is facing this problem. There is a great crowd of people at the employment exchange offices. Actually, it is a curse to see young educated waste their time and energy in search of a job. In this way, we can say what the unemployment problem actually is. 

CAUSES OF UNEMPLOYMENT PROBLEM

There are so many causes of the unemployment problem. Some of them are given as follows –

1.    Large population – India contains a large population. So it is not possible to settle all of the young educated persons for the government jobs. The outbreak of population is the main cause of unemployment in India. The population is increasing day by day. Thousands of times applications are submitted against a single post. This is a tragedy for India.

2.    Lack of Industries – India was ruled by foreigners for centuries. Foreign ruling government neglected the development of industries. Result of this negligence most Indians had to depend on agricultural land to make their livelihood. Land of agriculture can’t support the whole of the population of the country. It can support only half of the population. Therefore, the rest of the people have to wander here and there in search of jobs.

Lack of skill-based education system – There is a lack of a skill-based education system in schools and colleges in India. The students are taught theories in schools and colleges. They pass their examinations by their memories power and writing skill. But, our societies demand another skill. At this stage, the college passed out students are not able to face this quite different condition. In India, there is a great difference between the numbers of students of arts and the numbers of students of science and technology. The students of arts begin to search for government jobs. Since the government’s jobs are limited so most of the students are not be able to seek jobs. That’s why they become unemployed.

IMPACTS OF UNEMPLOYMENT PROBLEM

There is a great impact of unemployment problem on the young educated persons of the country. They become frustrated with their lives. They begin to feel helpless. Their condition becomes like a washer’s dog which is neither of the house nor of the ghat. All of these affect the economy of the country. They also disturb the harmony of society.

REMEDIES OF UNEMPLOYMENT PROBLEM  

For solving this great problem the government should establish industries and give maximum facilities to the private sectors, so that a lot of unemployed youth may be involved. The increasing population should be controlled. Small and cottage industries should be established.

CONCLUSION

The unemployment problem is a great burning problem of the nation. So both the central and the provincial governments are trying their best to solve it. They begin to establish new factories and create new posts in various departments. They also enforced a new education system that is skill-based. But here is a great question that rises, “Can only government solve this problem?” It is absolutely not possible. The people will have to be active. They will have to control the birth rate. The students will have to study heart and soul. They will have to learn skills and establish small and cottage industries. We are hoping that we will solve this problem by the co-operation of governments and the public.
